Dawgdom's Story...Jack's Story
Jackson Roo was a stray who found us.

Two years later after Jack’s death, I can say that we miss of him every day. Jack was more than anyone could have imagined. He never learned sit or stay, but he was so good in his own way. He rarely barked, but made a mooing noise almost like a purr. His eyes showed his appreciation for everything at all times. The more time we had with him, the more Jack seemed to love us.

Jack began battling osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in April 2007. Through an amputation and four rounds of chemo he fought with strength and grace. We let go of our beloved Jackson on August 13th 2007. His tail was no longer wagging and the happiness in his face was gone. Our priority was his comfort and quality of life and I pray that we succeeded.

After we lost Jack, life was different - I became aware of how unfulfilled I was at my corporate job. I knew I needed to make a change. Somehow the loss of Jack needed to lead to something positive, something truly life changing. I have always had a passion for animals, but never knew how I wanted to incorporate it into my life. Jack showed me the way.

I had this vision of a dog boutique - products for active dogs, special needs dogs, dog lovers and your basic products, but unique – smaller vendors, local manufacturers, handmade products, etc. I wanted the shop to serve as a resource for the local dog community – wanting to adopt, knowing issues that the community and abroad is facing, how to get involved, etc. I wanted the shop to have a philanthropic focus, getting involved in fundraising as much as possible.

We opened our doors on March 15th 2008 and are enjoying every day since! Maverick or Fred come to work some days along side our greyhound volunteers (Angel and River). We have made great friends through this endeavor and look forward to what the future holds.

Wherever Jackson is, I hope he thinks we did a good job. He is our angel, my baby though older and wiser than all of us. He blessed us with his love and we are grateful for the honor.
